A sink that mounts on top of your toilet(s), running clean water automatically as the bowl fills after a flush. You’re not washing your hands in toilet water, you’re washing your hands right before it becomes toilet water. Environmentally friendly, elegantly simple and pretty dang smart.

Tim Russert is breaking Ron Paul’s balls the whole time yet Ron does a pretty good job of keeping his cool. I’d like to see an interview like this conducted over correspondence where each side has more time to consider and prepare their responses.

“If it works, the HTV-3X will be the first reusable scramjet-powered plane. It will be able to take off from a runway, fly at speeds of up to Mach 6, land safely, and then do it again.”
Put a bunch of humans on a tiny ship on a 6 month trip to Mars and, you can imagine. Astronauts need to do it like anyone else, especially if the mission counts on their mental and physical well-being.

If you look at the sidebar on this website, you’ll see I’ve added a section for topic suggestions. I’m using a new widget called Skribit that lets you not only submit ideas to this blog but vote on other people’s suggestions as well. Ideas can be as general as “more music” like has already been suggested, or as specific as you want — I’m always game for pretending I know something about expansion and scale or the geometric symmetry of the circle of fifths, give me your best shot.
Moreover, I’m proud to be one of the founders of Skribit, which I built with a number of other people about a month ago at Startup Weekend Atlanta, playing the role of designer. Props to Jared England for, among other things, his sweet logo design & artwork.
Skribit launched into private beta last night. There’s still a ton of improvements to be made, but we’ve gotten to a point where it’s safe to start letting people play around. Give it a try if you like, I’m really excited to see how it works for this site. And drop me a line if you’d like one for your own blog, for the time being I can hook you up with beta access.

This is my response to an image recently promoted to the top of social image bookmarking site, FFFFOUND!.
There’s a high-res version of the above collage that makes the detail in the bottom-most view of Europa really stunning. Images recently reprocessed by Ted Stryk from original Galileo telemetry.
Called Chocolate Haas, this video was produced by designer Sander Plug in collaboration with Lernert Engelberts. Hypnotic and somehow metaphoric, I’m really digging this for some reason.
Raaf makes his saxophone sound like a violin, truly virtuosic playing.
