Plasma/Flame Speakers

In much the same way that a conventional speaker uses a magnetic field to push a driver, plasma speakers (sometimes called flame speakers) use electricity to move the surrounding air, projecting sound directly from their discharge. In the videos above sound is being produced completely from tesla coils, there are no conventional speakers in use. Eastern Voltage Research appears to have instructions and tools for building something like this yourself.

I dont know if these are the same but these are electrostatic speakers. There is no conventual speaker they’re it uses electricity. The Martin Logan speakers are the best sounding speakers I have ever heard. About $10,000 for a pair though fun stuff

Yeah, electrostatic speakers are definitely in the same vein. They use electric charge variations to vibrate a thin plastic sheet to generate sound — a lot less clumsy than traditional speakers in comparison. This however takes out the middleman completely, the electricity itself is creating sound.
