[...] As I develop into more of a pattern with this blog, I plan to regularly put together a link list. Once a week I’ll highlight a few (usually no more than five but it depends) of posts I read during the week that I think are worth checking out, and why. This week it will stretch back a month or two, but in the future they’ll be posts from other sites from that week. That’s not a hard and fast rule so don’t keep me to it. Quote of the week: “I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” - Michael Jordan You Don’t Need Six Figures: The Financial Realities of Living in Iowa: One of my favorite daily reads is "The Simple Dollar." However, in this particular case the comments bring even more depth and detail to the original article. Personally I sometimes think I would love to move to a small town, but New York is addictive. 10 simple ways to save yourself from messing up your life: From the group blog lifehack.org, a nice list to remind you (and me) not to spend so much time obsessing on "feelings" but instead to just get out there and live life. Important for me, since I’m one to sit around trying to psychoanalyze my feelings. And on a related note, Penelope Trunk (who has a very informative and readable blog, "The Brazen Careerist") has this advice from Senia Mayminon how to train yourself to be happier. And staying on that theme, Leo Babuta of the blog Zen Habits, which is a big part of my inspiration for starting this one, has his Handbook for Life: 52 Tips for Happiness and Productivity. I don’t see where he comes up with the time or the ideas for his blog. His posts are always thorough, long and well-thought out AND he has six children and a full-time job. Impressive blog, give it a read. And finally, some amazing pictures from the Hubble Telescope. If you haven’t ever spent time looking at the Hubble pictures, they are beautiful and awe-inspiring beyond belief. [...]
