Italy Wins World Cup on Penalites

France’s star player Zinedine Zidane loses his head, gives it to Marco Materazzi. The Cup has been decided on penalties only once before in 1994, when Roberto Baggio, the “Divine Ponytail”, lost the Cup for Italy to Brazil. This is Italy’s first win in over 20 years putting them only one behind Brazil, the current leader with five.

What the hell was Zidane thinking, its really too bad to see his career go out like this.

Love the French commentary… “mais pourquoi, mais pourquoi??” Moment of madness! Materazzi has denied calling him a terrorist or insulting his mother (says the mother is sacred, very Italian), the insult may have been directed towards Zidane’s wife. If so, hasn’t he heard it all before? Totally overreacted. However if it was a racial slur, then Materazzi should be heavily punished.
