Epitonic was the first good music website I ever came across. It was five years ago and I was a junior in high school, up late in the morning looking for some free Steve Reich recordings when I found their archives, and subsequently a ton of music I had never heard before. I checked back from time to time to scan their newest reviews but eventually lost track, only to discover about a year ago that the site had been abandoned.
Yesterday I was surprised to receive an email from them announcing their return. They’ve completely redesigned and added a new music player, the ability to purchase albums, and an editor’s blog (though no RSS feed yet). I’m looking forward to channeling my old luck and digging up some new music.

This story sounds exactly how I found Epitonic. I was always the first one at school, so I hung out with the computers in the morning. I found my first Death Cab For Cutie song on there… And Bjork. And Radiohead… This was 9th grade. I was pretty sheltered in the music world until I found Epitonic. Too bad my school blocked the URL… So now I go on Epitonic in the confinments of my own home computer.
