


The nucleus of Schwassmann-Wachmann 3 recently shattered into more than 33 pieces, the smallest of which estimated at being the size of a house. The comet orbits the sun every 5.4 years and is expected to continue disintegrating, passing closet to Earth on the 7th of June. The Hubble Space Telescope captured images of the breakup which has been assembled into time-lapse video.
