   that was… amazing. i mean that was really, really good!!! :D

   i can’t believe they’re holograms… they just looked so real!

   are you sure they’re holograms? i had to think they were puppets until i saw some of their movements - you can’t get puppets to do those things.

   one last thing… what was with all the people down on the front of the stage?! :shock:

   Sorry! My other post is incorrect…

   Gorillaz not use “io2technology”… In fact, the technology used is a “Old trick with new cloths.”

   Oh! And the people lying in palco it was to hide the trick…

   That performance was amazing - it really was hard to believe that they were just holograms.

   Justin, you have a kick-ass design - have you thought about releasing it as a Wordpress theme?

   Eli: thanks!, maybe. it’s based off K2, but still has a couple issues w/ IE i’m trying to fix, as well as some glaring errors in Opera. interest in this has been expressed elsewhere, however, so I think eventually i may do something with it. i’ll definitely post about it if i do.

   You all have no idea how the system works.
   No glass, no sheet of plastic and no hologram!
   That´s the most amazing system I´ve ever seen.
   Do you know “peppers ghost”? Use Google to check it out …

    Yep, the Gorrilaz show at MTV European Music Awards was amazing!!!!!…it’s a virtual 3D holographic projection system(with patents/trademarks) which is really cool. We’ve seen the technology first hand thru’ the exclusive agents MUSION SYSTEMS Ltd (call Simon on 07980 301043 for a demo)..they are located in Covent Garden in London

    it wasn’t the projection.. the cameramen weren’t trained to film with “no focus point”.

    Hi Jack, the company that supplies the special effects aka the magic foil is called MUSION and the system is called “Eyeliner”…call Simon on 44 7980 301043, their clients include Gorillaz, BMW, Nike, Mercedes…we used them to beam in Richard Branson for launch of Virginonline.com…cheers, Ben

    the reason the pepper trick theory doesn’t really work is look at the american grammy preformance. Madonna walked infront and behind the hollograms and they we not translucent… they were solid pixels that could not be seen thru. The resolution is too great. it may be part pepper trick but no way that is it alone… more people would be using the technology…

    I agree the bodies were hiding a crucial aspect of how the trick worked but still someone is sitting on some bomb arse technology that is gonna shape the music industry into a whole new entertainment genre.

    If you watch the video again you’ll notice that the clothing Madonna wears when walking around the Gorillaz is different than that she wears when she appears after going “offstage”. To me, it looks like she was projected along with the Gorillaz up until she starting singing on the luggage rack…

    I don’t think there was enough time for a clothes change.

    When You notice all the people that are laying on the ground, they are not hiding any effect because if you watch the video (The music video), There are a lot of people just lying there
